What to Expect

Upon admission you’ll participate in a series of medical and wellness evaluations that will provide input into your individualized treatment plan. Your time at Yellow Wood Recovery is carefully structured to maximize the benefits of your treatment plan. A typical day starts with breakfast, a morning meditation, then scheduled individual and group therapies, education sessions, personal time, and health and wellness activities. You’ll also have time to yourself for personal reflection, reading and healing. Families are welcome to visit and reconnect on weekends.

Family / Visitor Information

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent regulations by the State of California, no visitors are allowed at Yellow Wood Recovery at this time.

COVID 19

  • As part of Yellow Wood Recovery’s commitment to keeping you and others safe and healthy while in our care, we currently require COVID-19 testing for all incoming patients as part of our admission process. This helps keep our facility safe so you can focus on your treatment and recovery. When you arrive, we’ll check for symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, a new cough or difficulty breathing. If our screeners determine you have symptoms, you won’t be able to begin treatment at that time. If you are symptom-free, a nurse will spend a few seconds getting a nasal swab, which will be sent to a lab to determine if the coronavirus is present. We do that test because the virus can still be present even in the absence of symptoms. The results of your test will typically take 24-48 hours to get back, and you will be able to stay on-site until we receive them. If your test comes back negative, you’ll be cleared to join other patients in all of our programming. If it’s positive, we’ll need to look at some other options.
  • Once you are admitted, our infection control and prevention plans define that Yellow Wood Recovery will discharge patients who develop fever or symptoms of COVID-19. Because of this all new patients need to make provisions for one of the following prior to admission:
    1) A local resource who will be immediately available to pick up the patient from our site
    2) A specific plan for how to get home that is not reliant on public transportation. This will be discussed with one of our counselors.
  • Anyone that will be at our facility will also be required to wear a face mask. Patients will only be able to take them off to sleep, eat/drink, and bathe. This is a CDC recommendation that we are following as an organization and as one of the many tactics that we are employing for your safety and the safety of our staff during this time of COVID-19. (other precautions include social distancing by limiting gatherings around mealtimes and lectures; handwashing; wiping down common areas several times a day; daily temperatures and having a discharge plan in place pre-entry, just to name a few). Masks are changed out daily and washed under strict guidelines of the CDC with water/drying temperatures adhered to. Masks will also be replaced if they get wet during the day.
  • We will be doing temperature checks daily.
